Article: Dell opens doors on Design Studio for jazzing up Studio 15/17 laptops
This article is a piece of advertisement promoting Dell's (a computer company) new way of personalizing laptops - by ''permanently tattooing'' laptops. In other words giving them a brand new look (on the lid) making the product more attractive to the consumer. Around one hundred designs are available.
This concept of making a laptop more personal is definitely appealing because it allows one to make their mark on a laptop. Most people enjoy having their items carry a sign of their personalities especially if they use this item often. It is an expression of art and individuality. It also saves a lot of damage done to laptops (i.e. scratching of the lid and later on peeling of the paint) done by “unorthodox paintjobs”.
On the other hand this “ ultra-personal” idea is only available for Studio 15/17 laptops, people without these models will feel let down especially if they have Dell laptops. It also costs $75, a high price which could push away potential customers.
Although the tattooed laptops are an engaging idea and the ones in the picture(above) are very attractive I unfortunately do not have the required laptop (Studio 15/17 laptop) . If I did I would consider getting it a makeover. Buying the required laptop, at $1199 (Studio 15) or $999 (Studio 17), just to get it a great look (another$75)… is just not worth it.
